Yup. Don't Sit on Ideas for Too Long

So, my very first attempt at a novel (I say attempt, because although I finished it, it stunk) was about a 14 year-old kid who goes to a psychiatric hospital for help with depression. He meets a guy there who is purportedly "crazy" but not really. He only suffers from a rare form of epilepsy that causes him to go in to hysterics during moments of high stress. On the inside of the hospital he's completely sane, but only on the inside. I'd hoped to re-visit my story of Jack and Jacob someday because I liked the premise, but it looks like somebody not only beat me to the punch, but was more original about it and had more fun. "It's a Kind of Funny Story" is coming out (here's the trailer http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/itskindofafunnystory/) this summer and it looks great. In my imagination, the older adult guy in the hospital was played by Gary Senise. But Zach Galifianakis is an inspired casting choice for the wise-crazy guy role. I hope this good; it's a really great premise for a story! (Doh!)
